John Whalen’s 1972 Datsun 1200 is powered by 60 lead-acid batteries in his trunk and back seat. In a quarter mile, he can hit speeds of 107 miles per hour in less than 12 seconds. In this OPB special you see Whalen and his “White Zombie” whip up on muscle cars at the dragstrip. Towards the end you see him set world records after he is loaned A123 Systems lithium ion batteries, increasing horsepower and lightening the car by 700 pounds.

I WANT AN ELECTRIC CAR CONVERSION! WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT IN THIS? ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR MINDS WHEN THEY SAY WE NEED MORE MONEY. STOP SPENDING MORE MONEY ON FOREIGN OIL AND GAS WHEN WE CAN HAVE PURE ELECTRIC. NOT ONLY WILL WE HELP OUR PLANET BUT WE’LL BE SAVING GREEN IN OUR POCKETS!
How can i get a conversion, if say i’m a person who lives in the Chicago suberbs?
I think that if we’re able to convince people to switch to DTV than we can switch From gas gourging to EVs
John Valquez,
It is all very well having electric cars, but you still have to generate the electricity. How do you propose to do that and supply enough for the needs of the country as it is now and then add everyone having an electric car?
John Valquez, The answer is with Wind tidal Solar and renewables and not fossil fuels.
We need to take stinking petrol/diesel vehicle out of the equation completely.
They should simply be fazed out – then banned.
